Beaver Section News
This week we celebrated American Independence Day. Two lodges played American baseball outside and then they came into the Ranche and had 3 different stations for an activity. One table was a wordsearch, the second was to colour in the American Flag and then on the third table they had to read a description of a place in America and match it with the appropriate photograph
Here is a further picture of the camp which shows how lucky with the weather they were.
The experiments for the Wed Colony were different to those on Monday. This time one experiment was to see which common product was best for cleaning a coin, how an effervescent substance when added to water could blow the top off a small container and lastly how boiling water could leech out the colour from a Smarty type sweet. The result provided some wonderful colour patterns.
Twenty three Beavers and 10 adults spent a night under canvas this last weekend. It was a marvellous introduction to Scout camping with fine, warm weather and a good variety of activities to keep them occupied. They were able to try archery, fire lighting and cooking, grass sledging, pioneering as well as a Camp Fire. A number of badge-work boxes were ticked it is just up to us to get the paperwork updated. A picture taken at the camp fire is included in this item but hopefully by next Monday there will be some more pictures on the Beaver Noticeboard.
