Monday 31st March and Wednesday 2nd April - Easter Performance
To tick off part of both the My Skills challenge and the Creative badge, we used boom whackers in our Lodges to learn a (loosely) Easter themed nursery rhyme and then perform it to the rest of the Colony.
The performances were surprisingly good and there was some lovely singing too!
Afterwards we took advantage of the lighter evenings and the good weather to play a wide game in the park.
We also awarded a Bronze Chief Scout Award to other of the Wednesday Beavers.
Monday 24th and Wednesday 26th March - Mother’s Day and Log Chew
This week we put together cards for Mother’s Day. We thought about what activities we’d like to do next term, what badges we’d like to earn and voted for our favourite thing from this past term. We also played a few games.
Monday 17th and Wednesday 19th March - Team building part 2
Half of the Colony went out into the park and used maps with basic grid references to navigate to specific locations and answer questions.
The other half used spaghetti and marshmallows to build free standing structures and then of course they had to eat them!
After about 25 mins the two halves swapped over.
Monday 10th and Wednesday 12th March - Skills
This week we continued ticking off activities counting towards the Skills challenge badge. We practised laying a table and some of us even tried it blindfolded! We decorated cakes for (early) Red Nose Day. We learned to tie shoelaces and practised reef knots and sheet bends and we learned how to roll our neckers. We even learned a new song all about a baby bumblebee!
Monday 3rd and Wednesday 5th March - Global Issues part 2
For the second half of this badge, we made water filters using bottles, sand, cotton wool, charcoal and gravel. We also watched a video about fair trade and tasted some fair trade chocolate and bananas.
