This week we are doing the reverse programme from two weeks ago which means that the Monday Colony were making a bird feeder based on the inside of a toilet roll covered in peanut butter and then rolled in oats. A loop of string through the inside of the roll gives the ability to hang it outside where birds but not cats or squirrels can get at it.
This week the Beavers were trying to complete part of their My Challenge Award. This involved the Beavers lighting a candle, rolling their own necker, explaining how to play a game that they play at Beavers and knowing their contact details. This is obviously important if they get lost or are separated from their family.
The programme this week was different for the two Colonies. On Wednesday the Beavers made a bird feeder, for them to hang in the garden. They covered the inner of a toilet roll with peanut butter and then rolled it in bird seed. We then attached a string for them to hang it up.
It would be good to see photographs of birds feeding.
The Beavers had a games night this week, our first after the Christmas holiday. We practiced our fire evacuation. We also said goodbye to 12 Beavers, who are going into Cubs. 8 were from the Monday Colony and 4 from the Wednesday colony.
We wish them all a happy time as they go forward in the Scouting organisation.
