17th & 19th Oct Diwali
This week the Beavers have been learning about Diwali, its meaning and how it is celebrated. They made lamps and coloured designs associated with the festival.
Mon 3rd & Wed 5th October Games evening
This week we had to rethink our programme as what we had thought of doing we were unable to do. The easy answer was to bring the following week's programme forward which would give us a week's grace to plan something else. We also managed to fit in a Fire Drill so if there should be a fire the Beavers would have some idea of what to do. I hope that it will never have to be for real. The Beavers all filed out when the alarm sounded and assembled at the muster point for a check to be made to ensure everyone was out. All when very well so we resumed playing games.
Wed 28th Sept Football themed evening
This week the meetings have a football theme. This involved designing a fantasy football kit and playing football related games.
Mon 26th Sept Football themed evening
Tonight the Beavers were given the option of coming in their football kit instead of uniform. Most decided on uniform. The evening started with them colouring an image of a footballer in a fantasy kit then it was games including two person teams trying to score / defend their half of the pitch.
19th Sept Promise Activities
This week the Beavers are thinking about their Beaver Promise. This involves playing games that relate to the Beaver Promise. Today because it was the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II they were asked about whether they had watched any of the funeral on TV and their thoughts. The Beaver Promise as such does not mention the Monarch but all of the other Section Promises do refer to the person's Duty to the Monarch. Then a poem was read that had been supplied by the Scout Association to be read at any meeting held on the day of the funeral.
