Cubs - Tie Dye T-shirts
This week, to 'tie' in to the Hindu Holi Festival of Colours the Cubs made their own tie-dye T-shirts. There certainly was plenty of colour splashed around the Ranche!
Obstacle Course
It was great that the Cubs could make use of two of our new areas at The Ranche for this weeks obstacle course.
Halloween Party
As it's half term next week we brought our Halloween party forward to this week. There were scary costumes, Mummies, games and of course plenty of treats!
Catapults & Bridges
Saturday saw 26 Cubs put their recently learned pioneering skills in to practice. We had a very successful afternoon building a catapult and a rope bridge. Due to the showers we moved the catapult construction to inside the ranch which meant that unfortunately the planned egg throwing had to be replaced with tennis balls. This didn't seem to dampen the Cubs enthusiasm though and most of them made it across the bridge without incident!?!?!?!
Pioneering
The Cubs have been honing their pioneering skills by working on knots, lashings and tripod building, all in preparation for some major pioneering projects this weekend.

Presentation Evening
We had a great turn out for our Presentation Evenings this week. As well as awarding the badges that the Cubs had achieved over the Summer, including the Chief Scout Silver Awards to the Cubs moving on to Scouts, we also presented the Best Tent at Camp, Best Six and Cub of the Year awards and trophies. All well earned!
Skills Challenges
Due to the Bank Holiday, Monday Cubs joined Wednesday Cubs so we set them some tasks towards completing the Skills Challenge Badge. We had healthy eating, the human body, mapping, shoe shining, light bulbs and sign language. Quite a full on evening!
Obstacle Challenges
After last weeks game sessions we thought it was time to put the Sixes team-working abilities to the test. We devised a series of obstacles that challenged them individually and encouraged some good team working. By the end of the night they were running across the rope bridge!
