Activity Day
We recently attended the County's Scout Activity Day, where they participated in a variety of exciting activities. Scouts were given the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, including axe throwing, climbing, shooting, caving and archery. They also took part in scout skills and crafts, which worked towards their creative challenge.
Despite the ominous weather forecast, the group was lucky enough to avoid any rain until 3pm, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the activities. Participants were given the chance to push themselves to new limits by trying activities they may not have experienced before, while others honed their skills in their preferred areas.
The event was a huge success, with scouts and leaders alike enjoying the chance to socialise and engage in team-building activities. The day ended with a bang as the scouts let loose on the bouncy castles, getting thoroughly soaked (as this in when the rain appeared). Overall, the event was a wonderful opportunity for the scouts to challenge themselves and develop new skills, while also having a great time in the company of their fellow scouts.
Patrol Tents
With summer just around the corner, the scouts have been busy preparing for their upcoming camping trips. One crucial skill they've been honing is the ability to set up traditional patrol tents. These tents are a staple of scouting trips, and learning how to put them up is a rite of passage for any scout.
Over the past few weeks, the scouts have been working hard to perfect their tent set-up technique. They've been learning how to tie the necessary knots, assemble the poles, and securely fasten the tent to the ground. It's no easy feat, but the scouts are up to the challenge.
For many scouts, sleeping in a traditional patrol tent is a highlight of the camping experience. These tents are spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a group of scouts, making them perfect for scouting trips. And once the tent is up, it's a cozy and secure shelter from the elements.
But setting up a patrol tent isn't just about sleeping arrangements. It's an important outdoor skill that teaches scouts about teamwork, problem-solving, and responsibility. The scouts learn not only how to erect the tents but also how to maintain and repair them, ensuring they last for many camping trips to come.
As the scouts prepare for their upcoming trips to Giant's Seat Camp in May and Tatton in June, their patrol tent set-up skills will be put to the test. But with all the training and practice they've been doing, we have no doubt that they'll be well-prepared for whatever the great outdoors has in store for them.
So here's to all the scouts out there who are learning how to set up patrol tents. Keep up the good work, and we can't wait to see you out there camping under the stars!
Axe, Knife and Saw Training
Over the last few weel've we've been focussing on teaching the scouts how to safely use tools such as axe knives and saws as part of their preparations for the upcoming camping season. The scouts were eager to learn and participate in the hands-on training.
The training session was led by experienced scout leaders who have years of experience in the outdoors. They provided a comprehensive overview of the safety guidelines and protocols that scouts need to follow when using axe knives and saws. The scouts were taught how to choose the right tool for the job, how to properly handle them, and how to maintain and sharpen them for optimal performance.
The scouts were also taught how to identify potential hazards when using these tools, and how to work in teams to ensure everyone's safety. The training was not only educational but also a lot of fun for the scouts. They enjoyed the hands-on experience of using the tools and the challenge of learning new skills.
Scout leaders are confident that the training will help prepare the scouts for the challenges they may face in the wilderness. They believe that by learning how to safely use axe knives and saws, the scouts will be better equipped to handle any situation that arises while camping. The troop is excited to put their newly acquired skills to the test and embark on their upcoming outdoor adventures.
Values week!
This week our young leaders ran a Values evening. This was a great for them to explore different faiths, religions, cultures and moral dillemas. The scouts were split into groups where they could discuss and learn from their peers. The scouts came up with wonderful ideas especially when exploring the golden rule and during the values quiz! Well done to our scouts and young leaders!

Last Thursday the scouts had a blast! Like the hit tv show, the scouts got to have a go at their very own Task Master!
Mary had a variety of tasks the scouts engaged with using logic, strategy and teamwork. The scouts
