Over the first weekend in March, the scouts set out for an indoor camping trip at the Hebden Hey Scout Camp. The group travelled in two minibuses, while some older scouts also taking the train. They arrived at the campsite on Friday night and quickly set to work, sorting out their bunk beds before setting out to explore the campsite. The night ended with hot dogs and a movie.

The next morning, the scouts started their day with a hearty breakfast of sausages and beans, before beginning their day of outdoor activities. The group worked together, lighting fires and practicing their axe-throwing skills at targets, followed by a hike through the beautiful surrounding countryside, where they honed their navigation skills. The day concluded with a delicious spag bol for dinner and a big campfire.

On Sunday morning, the group enjoyed a delicious breakfast of bacon butties before getting to work cleaning and tidying the building. The scouts worked hard to pack all their gear and then headed into Hebden Bridge for a chippy lunch. The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the scouts to bond, develop teamwork skills, and explore the great outdoors.

The campsite is located in the heart of the Calder Valley (the filming location for BBC’s Happy Valley) and provides a stunning backdrop for outdoor adventures. The success of this event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the scout leaders, who planned and organised the event to ensure that the scouts had the best possible experience.

In conclusion, the scouts had a fantastic time at the Hebden Hey Scout Camp. They enjoyed a variety of activities, working together to learn new skills and bond as a team. The event demonstrated the importance of outdoor adventure, teamwork and leadership skills.
