The Scouts have cleaned up their local area by litter picking and tidying up the streets. Mark Dale, Trafford Council’s Environmental Improvement Manager, visited the Ranche and spoke to the Scouts about the importance of keeping the local area clean and the negative impact that littering and fly tipping can have on the environment.
The Scouts were trained on how to litter pick safely and effectively, and were informed that the Trafford Council could provide them with litter pickers if they wanted to do it at home. The Scouts identified areas of the local area that needed attention, with the Quadrant being a significant area containing a lot of litter.
This initiative is part of the Scouts’ World Challenge Badge, which encourages young people to take action and make a difference in their local community. The Scouts have demonstrated a commitment to their local area by taking the initiative to clean up the streets and promote good environmental practices.
The effort put in by the Scouts has been appreciated by the local community and the council, who have expressed their gratitude towards the young volunteers for their commitment towards making the local area a better place. The Scouts’ initiative is a great example of how young people can play an active role in promoting positive change in their local communities. It also highlights the importance of keeping our surroundings clean and preserving our environment for future generations.
