The Saturday Scouts have had a busy day on camp. After breakfast they honed their navigation skills learning how to plan a route taking into account the map scale, contour lines and taking bearings which they then tested – successfully! They did crossbow shooting, made their lunch and then headed to Rivington Pike for a walk.
On route one of our vehicles became stuck in a traffic incident with the Scout volunteers getting out to try and help to manoeuvre vehicles stuck down a narrow country road – the Scout girls declared that was the most exciting part of camp…!
After enjoying the views from Rivington Pike, they relaxed on site playing games, before cracking on with the next patrol making dinner for the group.
After dinner they helped collect the wood and make our camp fire. We made hot chocolate on the fire, and the obligatory smores in the Dutch oven. The patrols presented sketches that they'd been working on around the fire- an impressive creative bunch. We sang traditional Arabic songs (nasheed) around the camp fire and closed with prayer. A memorable day for all
