This week, both the Monday Cubs and Wednesday Cubs groups engaged in activities themed around the Chinese New Year. They crafted traditional Chinese lanterns using red and gold paper to symbolize luck and prosperity. In an adjacent activity, the Cubs participated in a chopstick relay race, where they had to transfer various small objects from one point to another using only chopsticks. The purpose of the activities was to introduce the Cubs to aspects of Chinese culture and celebrate Chinese New Year. The event also provided an opportunity for the Cubs to develop their fine motor skills and learn about the importance of different cultural celebrations.
