Perhaps you wake up from your tent on camp and see a HUGE “Ring of Fire” on the grass? Or maybe you hear a voice in the distance screaming “Great balls of Fire! I’m On Fire!” in the distance? What do you do? Panic and run? Continue listening to “Disco Inferno”? Or do you help?

As Scouts we may wish to help someone in need, but first and foremost we need to know how to keep ourselves safe around these very specific (perhaps unlikely) situations; but also any other encounter which we have with fire!

After a quick household smoke alarm count, we went on to learn about how to act safely around fire – both on camp, and away from Scouts. Scouts took an active part in discussing these elements, alongside creating fire safety posters. Overall the Scouts did a fantastic job! Perhaps a few of them may even turn out to be Stretford’s next batch of Fire Fighters!?
