This week, the Troop rolled up their sleeves for one of our all-time favourite sessions—cooking on open fires.
It all started with a good old-fashioned wood hunt. Scouts teamed up to gather sticks, twigs and logs, figuring out what would burn best (and learning that damp leaves do not make great kindling). Once supplies were stacked, it was time to get those fires lit.
Some Scouts chose the trusty flint and steel, putting their spark skills to the test, while others went for matches to get things going. However they did it, the end goal was the same: build a fire, keep it going, and get cooking.
With flames roaring and pans sizzling, it was burger time. Smoky, slightly charred in places (just how we like them), and absolutely delicious. There’s something extra tasty about food you’ve cooked yourself—and even better when you’ve done it as a team.
A top night full of skills, laughs, and plenty of ketchup. The Troop smashed it!
