Last summer, the Saturday section Cubs and Scouts took part in a bat walk using bat detectors at Abney Hall in Cheadle, whilst on their overnight camp.
During a night walk we detected-and saw- lots of bat activity!
We also took part in a Night Watch Bat survey, thanks to a training program organised by the Bat Conservation Trust.
We fitted a sensor on camp which collated data on which bats it could detect, which was then analysed and interpreted.
.. We've just got the results in!
It's great to know there's so much wildlife on our doorstep, and we hope our young people continue to build on their knowledge and love for the outdoors during their time with us.
These surveys are vital for the Bat Conservation Trust to monitor bat activity. A huge thanks to them for their hard work and we hope to work together again 🙂
